Okay so maybe not all books have an underlying personal message but I really think that Wicked Ties by Shayla Black does. While reading, I kept imagining a woman that felt that her fantasies and desires were dirty and unacceptable for "normal" people to have. But Morgan found that by repressing her desires and denying her needs, she was actually incomplete and unhappy.
I don't normally seek out erotica lit based on submission & dominance but I did find Wicked Ties to be entertaining. I found myself irritated at Morgan because it was so predictable that she would find release and happiness once she gave in to Jack as her dominant. His forceful nature fit the story but I personally found their interaction to be beneath the story line and a little tedious when they weren't having sex.
Ms. Black could have made Morgan a little less broken and pitiful and I believe I would have enjoyed the story much more. The sex scenes were HOT though. It's just the stuff in between that drove me nuts and I found myself skimming a lot!
So on a scale of 1 to 5 stars for writing, I give Wicked Ties 3 stars.
And on a scale of 1 to 5 stars for hot sex, I give Wicked Ties a smoldering 4.5 stars.

I have that book in my TBR pile. I am not usually drawn to bdsm books (which is weird since I like some pain:/ lol) but this book sounded good.

I read that a couple of weeks ago and have to say that I really enjoyed it. I like a bit of bdsm in my books as well as in my life. LOL But they have to be well written.
I enjoyed Wicked Ties, but I agree, Morgan really pissed me off, especially given the way Jack was using her ("ooh, this guy pissed me off, so I'll screw his fiancee' and that will fix his wagon!"). Hello? Doormat much? I had to completely overlook the way the two characters got together in order to enjoy the rest of the book. That said, the manwich towards the end was one of the hottest things I've read this year. ;)
I would certainly have to agree with the afore mentioned comments. The sex was hot, and yes like the others a little BDSM..is great. I, also did not like the "doormat" syndrome either. But over all, I did like it enough to keep the copy. I also cant wait for the sequel to come out Decadent.
Oh yes, the manwich... *fanning self* That was the best part of the book. Woo-wee!
